Conservatorship

A conservatorship is a court-ordered relationship in which a guardian acts on behalf of a person who can no longer act for him/herself in financial and healthcare matters. In contrast to guardianships, conservatorships generally involve adults as opposed to minors. Often conservatorships are established for people in comas, suffering from advanced Alzheimer's, or other injuries and conditions that result in incapacity.

This brief overview of some important considerations associated with guardianships is by no means comprehensive. Always seek the advice of a competent professional when making important financial and legal decisions.
